How Can I Prevent Antibiotic-Resistant Infections?
- Use antibiotics only when your health care provider prescribes them - and always take all the medicine that is prescribed.
- Never ask for antibiotics for a viral infection such as a cold, acute bronchitis, cough, or green/yellow runny nose.
- Never let anyone take leftover antibiotics or a prescription that was used by someone else in your household.
- Handwashing helps prevent the spread of infections!
Wash your hands thoroughly - and teach your children to wash their hands too - using soap and running water for 15 seconds after blowing your nose, after using the toilet and before eating or preparing food.
